Dental Prevention - Supporting Healthy Teeth And Gums For Life

Preventative dentistry can have huge, life long effects on the over health of your mouth and your whole body health.

Comprehensive Exams

Dr. Scott Taylor believes strongly in regularly performing visual oral exams.  In addition to checking your teeth, he inspects your jaws, gums, and soft tissues.  Dr. Taylor has training in early oral cancer detection and has helped some of his patients by identifying these signs while the cancers were still treatable.

Digital Imaging

We use state of the art digital imaging for earlier and more accurate detection of tooth decay.  Digital imaging  requires far less radiation than traditional x-ray images, which means you get less radiation too. When the decay (decalcification) is detected early, it can often be reversed by implementing some of our preventative techniques.  Sometimes we can avoid drilling altogether.  Dr. Taylor tries to be as conservative as possible when it comes to removing tooth structure because no restoration will work as well as your sound, natural tooth.

Dental Cleanings

Dental cleanings (prophylaxis) are typically recommended twice a year, depending on your periodontal health.  Our cleaning paste is flouride free, gluten free, and free of flavors, dyes and oils.  Regular cleanings help to support healthy gums and teeth by removing bacteria and bacterial “housing” between the gums and teeth.  This is also an time when our skilled hygienist can note any changes in your teeth, gums and soft tissue in between exams by Dr. Taylor.

Our prophy paste is fluoride free, gluten free and free of potassium nitrate, flavors, dyes, and oils.
